Finally we had our first outreach to street children on 8^th May, just to observe and see what surrounds them.

It was as exciting an experience as it was a saddening and humbling one for most of us to see and hear what those boys and girls go through on a daily basis.

HIV/AIDS prevalence in Zambia is 14.3% among adults. This translates to one million people living with HIV. Of the 330,000 in need of antiretroviral treatment, only 46% were receiving it at the end of 2007. Treatment access is much lower among children. HIV in Zambia is mainly transmitted through unprotected sex. The epidemic is fuelled by multiple concurrent partnerships and transactional, commercial and sex. What should the church's stand be concerning the epidemic especially as it prepares those intending to marry?

Hope Ministry visited Chisomo Drop-In Center located in Barclay/Makeni’s Lusaka area on 16 May 2009, taking not only the Gospel but a bit of material support to more than 20 boys and girls present at the time.
